Seymour won a tense three-set battle at No.2 singles to clip Bedford North Lawrence 3-2 in the consolation round of the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament on Friday afternoon.
Ty McCory clipped Brandt Callahan in the final match, posting a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory as the Owls (8-7) avenged a 3-2 loss to the Stars earlier this month and claimed fifth place in the league.
BNL won the three-set battles during the regular-season meeting, but this time McCory rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the final set.
“Brandt is the man you want there,” BNL coach Donnie Thomas said. “His head was down and he felt bad, but he’s the one you want in that position to win the match. He had won all the close ones until then, so I told him there was nothing to be down about. This was one of those good losses.”
Seymour swept the singles as Alex Berry conquered Ian Dillman 6-3, 6-0 at No.1 while Adam Berry stopped Logan Bland-Chastain 6-2, 6-2 at No.3.
The Stars claimed both doubles. Alex East and Corbin Bushey combined to top Grant Handloser and Johnny Rennekamp 6-2, 7-6 (7-5 in the tiebreaker) at No.1, while Isaac Titche and Christopher Kidd downed Sam Schmidt and Jonathan Valasquez 6-1, 7-6 (8-6).
BNL (13-6) will visit Edgewood on Monday.
