for contend for

Slowly but surely, Bedford North Lawrence boys soccer coach Shawn Krahenbuhl is doing everything he can to turn the Stars into annual sectional and Hoosier Hills Conference contenders.
After finishing last season 8-7-3, with several close games, the Stars come into the 2013 season with a renewed confidence that wouldn’t have been there the first few years of Krahenbuhl’s nine-year tenure with the program.
“For the past four or five years, we have been in the top half of the Hoosier Hills Conference and it’s progressively gotten better and better,” Krahenbuhl said. “Last year, it was just very close and very tight in several games, but it should be a lot better this year.”
Last season the Stars suffered a 1-0 loss in the sectional to Bloomington North, a tight 3-1 loss to Bloomington South, and logged a tie against Columbus East while being the only team in the conference to score against the Olympians.
Now, despite starting a new system, the Stars have the necessary confidence because of the pieces they return.
“Right now I’m looking for Cole Granger to be my stalwart back in defense like he was last year,” said Krahenbuhl. “We’re also looking for Jake McFarland and Levi Meadows to have a good season up top. In addition to that, our midfield is extremely strong, probably the strongest technically I’ve ever had.
“So through and through we are very strong start to finish.”
