BNL senior cards another

hat trick during 3-1 victory

ELLETTSVILLE – No defense can stop Bedford North Lawrence senior Kiana Brown’s current scoring spree.

Brown recorded another hat trick as the Stars conquered Edgewood 3-1 on Monday night. Brown has now scored 22 goals in the last seven matches, and BNL (10-3-3) has ridden her hot streak to six wins during that span.

Brown gave the Stars a 1-0 lead with a goal off Kat Emery’s assist in the 25th minute of the first half. She added another in the 53rd minute, converting her own rebound after the initial shot deflected off an Edgewood defender.

After the Mustangs got on the board in the 74th minute, Brown struck again two minutes later, converting another Emery assist.

“Edgewood came out with a nice game plan and executed it well,” BNL coach Kelsey Pace said. “Our girls did a great job of adapting. This was a nice sectional tune-up for our team. We are pleased with the effort, and our girls are playing well as a team right now.”

BNL will compete in the Class 2-A sectional at Edgewood next week, facing the winner of the first-round match between Edgewood and Owen Valley in the second semifinal on Oct. 4.
