SEYMOUR – Seymour didn’t surrender a game in doubles while sweeping to a 5-0 victory over Bedford North Lawrence on Tuesday afternoon.
Seymour’s Emma Wood and Lindsey Hume, a recently formed tandem after Wood shifted from No.1 singles, powered to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Ali Adams and Jaclyn Dufresne at No.1 doubles. Katie O’Mara and Grace Otte cruised past the new BNL duo of Jenna Williams and Emily Chastain 6-0, 6-0 at No.2.
“The doubles teams, especially at No.1, were the best we have seen all year,” BNL coach Joni Stigall said. “This was another new lineup, but we just faced a much better team.
“We have to remember our No.1 singles didn’t come back this year and we lost our No.2 singles to surgery, so we are doing the best we can. The positive notes are that our younger player are showing great improvement.”
In singles, Hallie Crenshaw stopped Hope Martin 6-1, 6-0 at No.1, Megan Baurle rolled past Nikola Malkova 6-2, 6-2 at No.2, and Addie Rudge conquered McKenzie Messmore (who made her varsity debut) 6-1, 6-3 at No.3.
The Stars (0-9) will visit Edgewood on Thursday.
