BNL finishes fourth
in IHSAA sectional
NORTH VERNON- Bedford North Lawrence advanced four individuals to the regional during the IHSAA track sectional at Jennings County on Tuesday night.
The Stars totaled 64.5 points to finish fourth in the team competition. Seymour topped the 12-team field with 127 points. The top three finishers in each event qualified for the regional at Bloomington North on May 24.
BNL’s Sarah Brewster finished second in the 200-meter dash in 27.97, clipped at the line by Jennings County’s Justine Corya (27.44). Corya also won the 100 (12.98) and 400 (1:01.94).
Other qualifers for the Stars included Megan Lambrecht (third in the shot put at 36-2 while Paoli’s Rachel Cadle won at 37-9), Carrie Flinn (third in the 3200 in 12:59.79 while Seymour’s Ashton Chase won that race in 12:12.39), and Mikaela Rainey (third in the discus at 105-1 while Brownstown’s Trentity Vaught took that title at 110-6).
Brewster missed advancing in a second event by the narrowest of margins. She was fourth in the long jump at 15- 3/4, missing third place by 1/4-inch.
