Center Grove, the defending Class 6-A state champion, pounded Jeffersonville 62-6 in the sectional semifinal.
The No.3 Trojans (9-1) rolled up 489 rushing yards while running over the Red Devils (4-6). Trevor Hohlt and Russ Yeast paced the ground attack with 105 yards apiece as Center Grove averaged 13 yards per carry. Center Grove will visit Columbus North in the Sectional 8 final next week.
Yeast ran for three touchdowns and Hohlt added two. The Devils didn’t get on the board until Jordan Barnett’s 6-yard run with 4:16 left.
Columbus North 56, New Albany 6: The Bull Dogs took advantage of three turnovers while cruising to a 42-0 halftime lead.
North’s Mitchell Burton ran for 163 yards and four touchdowns, while quarterback Triston Perry completed 14 of 20 passes for 163 yards and another score. The Bull Dogs also returned a blocked punt for a score.
Columbus East 49, Martinsville 9: The Class 5-A No.5 Olympians (10-1) advanced to the Sectional 14 final and will host Whiteland (6-4).
Jamon Hogan had three touchdowns as East roared to a 42-6 lead at halftime. Josh Major added a down run and two touchdown passes.
Seymour 43, Jennings County 0: The Owls (8-3) extended their winning streak to eight straight while advancing to the Class 4-A Sectional 23 final. Seymour will host East Central (9-2) in the championship game. The Owls posted their first shutout since 2010.
