PAOLI – Bedford North Lawrence extended its winning streak to six consecutive matches with a 3-2 victory at Paoli on Monday afternoon.
The Stars (11-3) won a key tiebreaker at No.1 doubles and dropped only two games in the other five sets of their victorious matches.
Brandt Callahan and Logan Bland-Chastain continued their solid play in singles. Callahan (11-3 as an individual) rolled past Dawson Long 6-1, 6-0 at No.2 while Bland-Chastain (10-4) thumped Marcus Stroud 6-0, 6-0 at No.3.
BNL’s No.1 doubles duo of Alex East and Corbin Bushey fought through a sluggish start to conquer Paoli’s Adam Engleking and Wyatt Ashley 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 for the final point.
“We’ve not played that well in doubles the last few matches,” BNL coach Donnie Thomas said. “They were looking a little stale, not putting balls away, doing things they didn’t need to be doing. But they looked a lot better in that second set, they got more aggressive.”
The Rams won a three-set duel at No.1 singles as Ashton Minton clipped Ian Dillman 5-7, 6-1, 6-4. Paoli also took No.2 doubles as Mason Buchanan and Kyle Marshall edged Isaac Titche and Christopher Kidd 6-1, 5-7, 6-4.
BNL will visit Scottsburg on Tuesday.
