BLOOMINGTON – Bedford North Lawrence completed the regular season with a lackluster performance on Saturday, falling to Bloomington North in three quick sets.
The Cougars cruised to a 25-16, 25-13, 25-11 victory as the Stars finished with a 20-12 record heading into the Class 4-A sectional at Jeffersonville.
“We played awful,” BNL coach Scott Saunders said. “It was a sad performance heading into the sectional. We said we would see where we stood after this, and right now were not standing on too high ground. We’ve got a lot of work to do.”
Jenna Dufresne totaled 9 kills and 5 digs, Tristin Day had 6 kills and 2 blocks, and Hannah Dotts added 4 kills.
“North passed the ball well, set the ball well, and we didn’t,” Saunders said. “We didn’t have any intensity. This group cannot play without intensity.”
BNL will face Floyd Central in the second sectional game on Thursday night. New Albany will meet Jeffersonville in the opener, and those winners will collide in the first semifinal on Oct. 22. The Stars won their only sectional title in 1982.
